Singer Ricky Martin stepped out in style at an AIDS research organisation’s New York gala hosted by Kylie Minogue in one of his first public appearances since announcing he was gay.
Actress Zoe Saldana and singers Cyndi Lauper and Estelle were some of the celebrities who attended the amfAR event honouring the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer for his philanthropic contributions through his foundation.
Minogue, who hosted the black tie/black leather event, said she was happy for Martin and felt he was “embracing and living life” since making the announcement in late March.
Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier was also honoured for his contributions to menswear and his humanitarian work.
The gala benefits amfAR’s AIDS research programs.
