LISTENERS of 2Day FM breakfast show have flooded the station with support for newsreader Geoff Field after he was suspended for being drunk on air this morning.
Field was ordered off air at 7.45am by 2Day FM station content director Jamie Angel after a breathalyser test taken live on the program revealed he was three times over the legal limit at 0.136.
On arrival into the 2Day FM studios at 6am after just two hours sleep, Field was slurring his words and repeatedly called Sandilands Kylie before muttering “I’ve got to get myself together”.

The excitement of celebrating Kylie Minogue’s 40th birthday at gay venue Stonewall on Wednesday night was clearly too much for Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O’s sidekick, who was photographed looking dazed and dishevelled during his event.

While Field this morning claimed to have had left Stonewall at 1am after finishing his set as guest DJ, the event organiser told Confidential the newsreader was still spinning around the “Minogue Mansion” party just before 3am.
“I had to put Geoff into a cab just before three, and he was very merry, put it that way,” Tim Dugan of samesame.com.au said this morning.
“He kept saying ‘one more drink, one more drink’, but it was obvious he’d had enough.”
Field is often positioned as Sandilands and O’s whipping boy, and the FM duo revelled in their colleague’s boozy misdemeanor as they berated him for being irresponsible before having him walked from the studio.
However listeners of the program jumped to Field’s defence on the station’s website, putting the incident down to “a slip-up”.
“I love Geoff - who cares if he had a couple of drinks? He should be back first thing tomorrow,” one wrote.
